We sell a range of vintage and antiques boxes, trunks and chests. These mainly originate from Rajasthan in India.  For centuries these were used to store goods in households, for merchants and for travelling.

Our vintage metal trunks are hand painted in floral designs and they are both practical and beautiful. 

Dowry Boxes/Chests

Dowry is the giving of "gifts from the family of the bride to the family of the groom". Crafted out of rosewood, teak or jackfruit wood, Indian dowry chests were used for storing jewelry, textiles and money.  Large dowry boxes make fantastic storage in the home or can be used as coffee tables.

Merchant Boxes

These Indian boxes vary in size but were generally used by merchants to keep cash, documents and valuables. 

Tikka/Spice Boxes

These come in many shapes and sizes and can be used to store spices or as decorative items. 

Our candle bases are made from reclaimed Indian pillars.  They are real "statement" pieces. Some still have the lovely original "chippy" paint on them in blues, reds or greens.
